Easy Beef Steak Tagalog At Home Recipe

Easy Beef Steak Tagalog at home

INGREDIENTS:
  • 500 grams beef sirloin, cut thinly
  • 2 Tbsp Dark soy
  • 1 Tbsp Kikkoman
  • 3 pcs Calamansi (you can substitute 1/3 of a lemon)
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 7 cloves garlic
  • 2 pcs onions, sliced into rings
  • To taste freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup water

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Bring thinly sliced sirloin to room temperature. Set aside as you prepare the marinade.
  2. In a bowl, combine the 2 soy sauces, calamansi, pepper and olive oil and stir to combine. I like to mix all my marinades in a separate bowl before adding it to any meat mixture.
  3. Using a mortar and pestle, pound 7 cloves of garlic. I added a little rock salt to help pulverize it.
  4. Add garlic to the Soy marinade.
  5. Pour marinade over beef and mix well. I marinated this for about 2 hours.
  6. Slice onions into rings and pan fry until golden. Set aside.
  7. Heat olive oil in a pan and add onions. I seasoned them lightly with salt and pepper. Keep the flame on low heat and allow to caramelize. Set aside.
  8. Pan fry beef in olive oil until browned making sure not to overcook your meat so it doesn’t get tough.
  9. Place the leftover marinade into the pan and add 1/4 to 1/2 cup water. Swirl the pan and adjust seasoning. Pour over cooked beef and top with caramelized onions. Serve. ENJOY!
