Pork Chops With Apples And Braised Red Cabbage Recipe


INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 inch pork chops
  • 1 large onion-sliced
  • 2 apples cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic-chopped
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Braised Red Cabbage:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 red cabbage
  • 1 teaspoon each of salt and pepper
  • 3 tablespoons of red wine
  • 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Sprinkle both sides of chops with salt and pepper
  2. Melt butter and olive oil until sizzling
  3. Add chops and cook turning once, about 6-8 minutes, remove keep warm
  4. Reduce heat and add onions and garlic
  5. Cook stirring occasionally or until soft
  6. Add apples and lemon juice , continue to cook until soft
  7. Reduce heat to low, return chops to pan
  8. Cover and cook 6-10 minutes or until chops are no longer pink
  9. Add maple syrup and increase heat for 5 minutes
  10. May want to add more salt and pepper
  11. Place Pork Chops on large platter, top with apple mixture
  12. Sprinkle parsley over chops

Braised Red Cabbage:

  1. Melt butter in large sauté pan
  2. Thinly slice cabbage and add to pan
  3. Add wine and cider
  4. Season with salt and pepper
  5. Stir constantly until cabbage turns bright fuchsia, 15-20 minutes
  6. Season with additional salt and pepper
