Halabos na Hipon


INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 lb. Large Shrimps (head-on or headless)
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsps. butter or butter-flavor margarine
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 cup lemon soda like 7-up, sprite, mountain dew, etc.
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. red chili pepper (optional)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 stalk fresh spring onions, minced (optional for garnishing)
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. If using head-on shrimps, cut tendrils off. Wash and drain.
  2. In a pan, melt butter. Add olive oil.
  3. Sauté garlic until brown.
  4. Add-on shrimps and continue to sauté until color becomes red.
  5. Pour-in lemon soda. Add brown sugar.
  6. Cover and continue to cook until all liquid are almost evaporated. Stir occasionally.
  7. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer to a serving plate. Garnish with minced spring onions (optional).
  9. Serve hot with rice and enjoy.
