INGREDIENTS:
- 1 ½ cup raw shrimp, deshelled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 6-7 cloves of garlic, minced
- ½ cup water
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar (or honey)
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon paprika
- ¼ cup water plus
- 1 teaspoon flour
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a medium size skillet, add about a tablespoon of olive oil over medium to low heat. Allow the oil to heat for about 30 seconds. Then add in the minced garlic. Stir the garlic with a spatula to cook them evenly and to prevent them from burning. Cook the garlic until they turn a golden brown color.
- Turn off the heat and allow the garlic and oil to cool for a minute. Carefully add water to the skillet but be careful in case the oil starts to pop once water is added. Turn the heat on to medium to high heat.
- Add in the soy sauce, sugar, crushed red peppers, and paprika. Stir with a spatula to evenly mix the ingredients.
- In a small bowl, mix together water and flour until it forms a cloudy white mixture. Slowly pour this mixture into the skillet and stir with a spatula to mix the flour mixture into the sauce. Pour and stir to prevent the flour from clumping.
- Add the shrimp. Using a spatula, stir the shrimp to cook them evenly. Cook the shrimp until it turns a red orange color and no longer appears translucent and grey.
- Plate the shrimp and serve warm. Enjoy!
